The Very Revd Professor Martyn Percy was installed as Dean of Christ Church at Evensong on Saturday 4th October.
As Dean, Professor Percy is head of the unique dual foundation of Christ Church, which is both a College of the University of Oxford and the Cathedral Church of the Diocese of Oxford. The Queen’s mandate electing the new Dean was read out by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for Oxfordshire, Tim Stevenson, and the new Dean was blessed by the Bishop of Oxford, the Right Revd John Pritchard, before being installed by the Sub Dean, the Revd Canon Edmund Newey, on behalf of the Canons and Students of Christ Church. Lessons were read by the Diocesan Secretary, Canon Rosemary Pearce, and Professor Judith Pallot, Senior Student of Christ Church, and the prayers were led by Professor Paul Fiddes, Ecumenical Canon of Christ Church. The sermon was preached by the Dean.
Professor Percy succeeds the Very Revd Christopher Lewis and is the forty-fifth Dean of Christ Church.
Congratulations to Martyn on his installation as the new Dean of Christ Church. We wish him and Emma all the best in their new life in Oxford.
