On Sunday 4th March there was an emotional farewell to two long standing and extremely dedicated members of St Giles’. David was instrumental in having all the pews covered in cushions, setting up the CD, organising countless concerts and many other things. Kate was well loved around the village for her pastoral care. Both of them will be sorely missed. We prayed over them and gave them a gift of a rose and vouchers to spend on something for their new house. After much soul searching David and Kate decided to move to Leeds to be nearer their family. They have embraced this new stage of their life with the same faith, dedication and courage that we have all come to honour in them.
Their final message to us is as follows:
“Our last service at St Giles was a very special occasion for both of us, and one which we will always remember. We were very touched that so many old friends could be there to join in The Final Prayers and the warmth and the fellowship expressed in both prayers and good wishes will go with us as we settle into a new area. We were quite overwhelmed with the very generous garden token from so many of you, as well as the lovely rose ‘New Beginnings’ from Brian and Barbara. Thank you all so much for your generosity. We will be returning from time to time and hopefully see many of you during our future visits.”
