Garsington PCC met on 22nd June. Emma presented the Mission Action Plan which had been devised in January (a copy is in the church) and agenda items were fitted around core goals. Martha reported on the financial state of the church and that giving had dropped considerably over the last few months. It was lamented that the fete had been cancelled for this year which will compound our financial situation. For Building and Heritage, John reported that the PA system had been repaired and the churchyard wall had been cleared of ivy. A number of events have been planned by the Mission and Outreach group including an Us speaker and lunch on the first Sunday of December, and safari supper on 14th October. We also discussed the issues behind the fete cancellation and agreed to charge for the Apple festival on 1st October which had been a free event last year at the Rectory. Worship and Education brought the issue of servers’ growing older and we explored the need for a new role as assistants in the service with appropriate attire. Emma described the Labyrinth event this summer and it was agreed that the discussion group would consider gay, lesbian and transgender issues within the church under the question of identity in September.
