The sun really did shine for St Mary’s fete at Garsington Manor on Saturday 14th July. It was a wonderful event which brought the whole community together. Stalls ranged from the white elephant, to gifts, to clothes, records and books. There was a raffle for children as well as adults and games for all the family, including welly wanging, bash the rat and putting. Beer and Pimms went down a treat on this very hot afternoon and many lingered to hear the life music on the acoustic stage. Musical highlights included a harpist and Simon Winner’s band on their third ever gig. Teas and cakes were served all afternoon and there was boating on the lake. A brilliant day in a magical setting.
Thanks go to Susan Robinson and Jonathan for allowing us to invade their garden and to Nick and all the members of the organising committee. An enormous thanks to everyone who helped set up, manned stalls and contributed items as well as everyone who came on the day. It raised £4950 for St Mary’s which will go towards resurfacing the path to the church.
