On Sunday 13th August we celebrated the birthdays of Doug and Liz Bowler at a special afternoon tea put on by their family. Liz was 80 on that day and Doug will be 90 on 7th December, making a grand total of 170 years. It was a lovely occasion with afternoon tea served by members of the Long Hanborogh WI and a special celebration depicting Liz and Doug on the fells by Backbarrow in the Lakes District. They had asked for no presents but welcomed donations to their favourite charities: St Mary’s and the scouts.
