The benefice commemorated the centenary of the beginning of the first World War this year with special services and events:
Garsington held a special vigil of prayer and readings to mark the announcement of the outbreak of war on the 4th August that was led by John Hall and attended by many. The Act of Remembrance on Remembrance Sunday which is organised by the church, had a bugler to sound the last post, children from Garsington Church of England school read their poems and coffee laid on at the village hall for all who attended.
Horspath remembered the fallen with a special talk given by Brian Lowe on the history of Oxford and Horspath during the war time years and remembered individuals who died from Horspath.
Cuddesdon, like Garsington, held a special vigil of prayer to remember the beginning of the war on the 4th August.
